A U.S. visa will allow an individual to enter the United States. Depending on the purpose of the trip, U.S. visas can be immigrant or nonimmigrant. A nonimmigrant visa will allow an individual to enter the United States and stay in the United States temporarily until his or her authorized stay in the United States expires.
